Arthritis
Arthritis is a combination of two Greek words, namely arthro which means joint and itis which means inflammation. So, it is nothing but the inflammation of joints. The disease is characterized by the constant pain felt in joints which is the result of swelling around the joint and damage of the joints.
This disease has various forms. They can be classified as follows :
Osteoarthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis
Gout and pseudo-gout
Septic arthritis
Ankylosing spondylitis
Juvenile idiopathic arthritis
Still's disease
Osteoarthritis is the most common form. Trauma to the joint or joint infection is the reason behind this painful condition.
Causes Of Arthritis :
Generally Arthritis is a cumulative effect of many factors. The role played by heredity cannot be overlooked, though there are no clear cut findings to support this claim.
Cartilage and tissues become weak and tender. Thus old people are more prone to joint pains.
Obesity is also a major reason. The weight puts extra strain on joints, as they have to support the whole body.
Severe previous injuries contribute significantly to this disease. In injuries like plateau fracture, broken area of the bone enters the cartilage of the knee.
Demanding job workers like miners and construction worker are at high risk, as their work is physically challenging.
Symptoms :
All types of Arthritis show some common symptoms.
1- Joint pain.
2- Progressive stiffness.
3- Numbness or tingling in the hands.
4- Loss of appetite and weight Loss.
5- Muscle weakness.
6- Muscle aches and pain.
7- Fever.
8- Inability to move your hand or leg.
9- Loss of fitness and stamina.
10- In some people certain food items might bring new symptoms or worsen the already existing ones.
11- Infections or allergies might cause arthritis. Such condition is called reactive arthritis.
12- Anemia may be the cause in case of children.
Homeopathic Remedies :
Like all other homeopathic remedies, arthritis treatment is also individualistic. Patient’s history is checked completely and accordingly medication is decided.
Generally it starts with 6X or 30X remedy. Three or four pills are allowed to dissolve under the tongue every 15 minutes. If no improvement is seen, then main dose can be advised.
